Around Riverside

A Virtual Tour of Riverside Drive Charter

Welcome to Riverside Drive Charter Elementary, an integral part of the Sherman Oaks educational community.   Our sense of community is strengthened by receiving so many alumni of local preschools, such as Church of the Chimes, TSONS and the Studio City Cooperative Preschool, to name a few, where people with prior relationships come together once again for elementary school.  These pre-existing bonds help strengthen the fabric of our tight-knit school community.  Many of our graduates go on to remain classmates at schools such as Millikan Middle School.

Our school benefits from the many talents of the parents whose children attend, many of them artists and people who work in the entertainment industry.  Our school grounds are adorned with lovely murals and works of art from some of our current and alumni families.

Volunteerism is an essential part of the Riverside culture.  As such, Riverside has a parent center, where parent volunteers come to help teachers prepare materials, help with food drives and other community outreach activities, among other things.

Benefitting from our lovely, temperate Southern California climate, our campus has a spacious, open indoor/outdoor feel about it.  We also benefit from other outdoor spaces such as our garden, replete with plant beds and chickens, or our literacy garden with shade and benches.

Our library offers a quiet refuge for the children, with our full-time librarian, Ms. Ellen.

And our computer lab has plenty of computers to accomodate any of our classes.

And our many yearly performances take place in our lovely auditorium, directly adjacent to the front office entrance.
